Hobbit Stars Arrive In Nelson

Photographer Ross Wearing snapped Orlando Bloom at Nelson Airport

Cast and crew of “The Hobbit” landed at Nelson airport yesterday, according to Stuff.co.nz. Freelance cameraman Ross Wearing snapped some photos of the celebrities after receiving a tip that their chartered plane was scheduled to arrive.

Wearing spotted Orlando Bloom (Legolas), Luke Evans (Bard), and James Nesbitt (Bofur) and got a chance to speak to Bloom. “Orlando wanted to know who I was and where I came from,” he said. “It just told him I lived here. It is not every day these sorts of guys come to town.”

Bloom loaded a mountain bike and luggage into a four-wheel-drive vehicle and Wearing said that “some of them were spotted in town last night eating out and all that.”

The stars will be filming at Canaan Downs on Takaka Hill as well as the Pelorus Bridge Campground near Marlborough, which is the setting for the famous “Barrels out of Bond” incident from the book.

Hopefully we will see more pictures soon!
