Richard Taylor on Weta’s Busy Year

Richard Taylor, the co-founder and co-director of the Weta companies in New Zealand, wrote a letter to fans in the most recent Weta Newsletter.

Hi all our Weta friends!

Here at Weta Workshop we’re just started back today after our Christmas break – refreshed and raring to go. Last year was incredibly busy but a lot of fun and we’re looking forward to more challenges this year – concluding our work on The Hobbit and hopefully diving into a few other exciting projects.

We hope to see you at our Weta Caves, at Comic-Con in July and of course here in Wellington for the World Premiere of The Hobbit – An Unexpected Journey at the end of the year.

I wish you all the best for your endeavours in 2012!

Author: Lily’s first experience with Tolkien was when the eccentric Mrs. H performed all of the characters from The Hobbit in her seventh grade class. In high school, she felt obliged to decline a second date with a boy who said he had no interest in reading The Lord of the Rings. When not writing for Middle-earth News, Lily tries not to unnerve her coworkers and family with her extreme geekery, but somehow, Star Wars, Star Trek, Sherlock, Merlin, Doctor Who, The Princess Bride, Back to the Future, superheroes, Disney movies, and of course, Tolkien, seem to have relevance in EVERY conversation.
