Billy Connolly is to wear a fat suit to make him look shorter for his role in The Hobbit reports The New Zealand Herald. Connolly, who plays the warrior dwarf Dain Ironfoot, also has a suit of armour for the battle scenes, which he described as “weighing a ton“.
Last month the director Peter Jackson said, “With Billy stepping into this role, the cast of The Hobbit is now complete. We can’t wait to see him on the battlefield.”
The comedian arrived in New Zealand last week to prepare for filming. According to a source close to him, Connolly seems to be as excited about the prospect of fishing as he is of starring in The Hobbit, reportedly calling the country “trout heaven“.
