‘Hobbit’ Actors Visit Armageddon

Conan Stevens (Azog) and Dean O’Gorman (Fili) from The Hobbit will be featured at the Armageddon Expo this weekend at the TSB Bank Arena in Wellington, New Zealand.

“Armageddon is a real melting pot of zombies, Twilighters, anime enthusiasts, comic collectors, Transformers fans, and cult tv show devotees all mixed in and generally having a fantastic weekend,” explained Armageddon organizer Bill Geradts. “‘We see trends come and go, but with ongoing rise of festivals like ours, being considered a geek is now more acceptable than ever. It’s even considered to be pretty mainstream and cool.”

Stevens and O’Gorman are two actors who are already pretty cool, and with the release of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey on December 14, 2012, they’ll start to be pretty mainstream, too.

You may already know Conan Stevens from his recent roles as Gregor “The Mountain” Clegane on Game of Thrones and Sacramentum from Spartacus: Vengeance. “I’ve built a career on being big. I’m the number one big guy,” he said. “I focus on my size and I’m working on the rest of my skill sets. I’m not the best actor in the world; some people are happy to point that out. But I’m the only guy I know with a whole-rounded skill set for the movies I do.”

Dean O’Gorman is attending Armageddon with his co-stars from the television show The Almighty Johnsons, in which he plays Anders, one of four brothers with god-like powers. O’Gorman got his start in the television movies, The Rogue Stallion and Raider of the South Seas. He had a recurring role on Hercules: The Legendary Journeys and guest starred on Xena: Warrior Princess. These performances set him up for the character of Iolaus in Young Hercules.

The Armegeddon Expo will be in Wellington on April 21 and April 22, 2012. A One-Day Pass for adults is $20.oo. Student and family discounts are available, as well as VIP event tickets. Visit ArmageddonExpo.com for more information.

Stevens will be appearing on both days of the expo for Photo and Autograph sessions. You can catch O’Gorman on the main stage on Sunday at noon. It’s unclear, but he may be one of the stars who will be signing autographs after the panel.
