BREAKING – UK Hobbit Release Date Changed

Updated 9 July: RELEASE DATE LATEST: 14 December confirmed

News is coming through of a change in the UK release date for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey from 14th to 26th December.

Middle-Earth News has contacted New Line for confirmation and will keep you posted. But the Film Distributors Association, Empireonline and IMDB are all showing 26th December date.

Of course, there may be a very valid reason for the change but for now, no explanation has been offered, so UK fans are, not suprisingly, feeling frustrated.

First of all thank you for keeping us updated …. 🙂
    But secondly I think it’s dreadful !!
We in the UK were told a date and were looking forward to the release ….. why change it ?
If they can release it in the USA on the 14th, why should we here have to have it changed ?
Can you imagine the “spoilers” there will be ? Are we going to have to have internet silence until it’s our turn ?
I just can’t believe this has happened !!!
I hope we get a reasonable explanation for it soon …. very soon !!!
    Thank you again … 🙂

I agree. I think I’ll have to go into hiding for a couple of weeks. It’s crazy!

  2. The delays might be worldwide…let’s wait and see. This is typical for movies with such large scale production. There may have been delays with post-production.

I know what you mean, only Argentina’s date has been moved from 1 Jan to 13 December!

But we have asked New Line for confirmation and, hopefully, an explanation.

  3. Thanks for staying on top of this Evie!
