In a promo for the blood drive, AMC’s hit show, The Walking Dead, has zombie-fied a number of celebrities — including The Hobbit director Peter Jackson — in order to drum up awareness for the cause. If you donate, you’ll be signed up to win a trip to the set when filming starts up for season 4. On October 13, visitors will be able to follow in the steps of J.R.R. Tolkien on a guided tour of the neighborhood of his youth. The tour, starting at Sarehole Mill, costs £5 per person and will last approximately an hour. (Lily Milos)

Pipe-weed and Hobbit Garden are two geeky scented candles provided by Etsy shop BubbleandGeek. Pipe-weed, understandably, is only available in this “smoky” variety, but Hobbit Garden also comes in a roll-on perfume and foaming handsoap. (Lily Milos)

The Hobbit and New Zealand will be well represented at the Frankfurt Book Fair, October 10-14. Every year, one nation is nominated as a special guest, and New Zealand will honor the fair by sending 60 authors and 100 performers, including dancers, musicians, and filmmakers. Weta Workshop will showcase their film tie-in books, and a prize will be awarded to the attendee with the best Hobbit costume. (Evie Bowman)

The Zoot Theatre Company in Dayton, Ohio is transporting audiences to Middle-earth with their production of The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien. The play runs through October 14. (Lily Milos)
