US ‘Hobbit’ Premiere in New York on Dec. 6!

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is to premiere to US audiences at the Ziegfield Theatre in New York on December 6, 2012.

The premiere will benefit The American Film Association. Single tickets for the screening and the after party are going for $500, while a single ticket with preferred seating costs $1,000. Additional packages range from $5,000 to $25,000. You can find the reservation form here.

Following the New York premiere, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey will be released on December 14, 2012 to we mere mortals.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is directed by Peter Jackson and stars Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins, Ian McKellen as Gandalf, and Richard Armitage as Thorin. Reprising their roles from The Lord of the Rings trilogy are Andy Serkis as Gollum, Orlando Bloom as Legolas, Cate Blanchett as Galadriel, Hugo Weaving as Elrond, Christopher Lee as Saruman, and Ian Holm as the elder Bilbo. Newcomers include Aidan Turner as Kili, Dean O’Gorman as Fili, and Sylvester McCoy as Radagast.
