Details of the world premiere of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey will be announced next week.
The premiere is on the 28th November and thousands are expected to attend the red-carpet event at the Embassy Theatre in Courtenay Place, Wellington – including some of our own news staff!
Wellington is using the event to show-case its talents to the world but it has yet to reveal exactly how. According to newstalkzb, Mayor Celia Wade-Brown said a major announcement about the premiere will be made next week.
“It’s a great opportunity to tell the Wellington story, to tell the talent story, to tell the story of Wellington both as a place to do business, to do film but also as a place to visit.”
One event that seems to be planned is a street parade, although WellingtonNZ are giving little away, but newswire reports that nearly a dozen streets around the theatre are being closed that day.
Sounds like quite a party to me!
