With 1 month to go before The Hobbit : An Unexpected Journey hits movie screens, excitement and anticipation are reaching new heights. We know from our experience of The Lord of the Rings movie releases that the wait through the last month can seem interminably long, and we know how great news stories to enjoy can make the days pass by quicker.
We also know, however, how excitement and the desire for an exclusive scoop can lead some sites into rushing out poorly thought out spoilers. In fact, this last month is something of a spoiler mindfield and if, like us, you want your first experience of the movie to be as special as possible after so many years of waiting, then you might well be viewing the Internet with a fair degree of trepidation right now.
Wouldn’t it be great if there was just one website you could visit safely, knowing your unexpected journey wouldn’t be tarnished by unexpected spoilers? Well from today, there is.
Middle-earth News is, from today until the movie release day on December 14, declaring to spoilers “You shall not pass!” We’re fans above all else, and we know how it can be to have a movie spoiled through careless reporting. We want to settle back into our seats on December 14, knowing we’re going to experience the film for the first time, and we know that’s true for so many of our readers.
What will this mean for our readers? It means that we will post nothing, either story or image, which will give away any movie story, plot, or surprise. You’ll find nothing here which you wouldn’t find on an on a billboard or during a TV commercial break. New posters, trailers, or promotional material–the official ones designed to heighten excitement without giving things away? Yes, they’ll be here. “Secret” images, story rumours, scene by scene breakdowns? We’ll have none of those and we’re proud to say so.
We’re committed to bringing you all the best and most exciting news all month; there just won’t be any spoilers in it. We’ll have reporters on the ground at both the World Premiere in Wellington and the Royal Premiere in London. We’ve got some fantastic interviews lined up. We’ll have all the fun of Hobbit Movie Day that we can all join in with together. We’ll have all the stories around all the excitement building for the film, but we pledge not to have any spoilers in there.
