The Hobbit Leads the Visual Effects Society Awards Nominations

hobbit logoThe Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey  leads the way in the Visual Effects Society (VES) nominations for the 11th Annual VES Awards.

The VES Awards recognise outstanding visual effects artistry in 24 categories of film, animation, television, commercials and video games. The Hobbit has seven nominations, closely followed by the Life of Pi and The Avengers each with six, reports Comicbookmovie.

The Hobbit has received nominations in the following categories:

Outstanding Visual Effects in a Visual Effects-Driven Feature Motion Picture

Outstanding Animated Character in a Live Action Feature Motion Picture:
The Hobbit: Goblin King
The Hobbit: Gollum

Outstanding Created Environment in a Live Action Feature Motion Picture:
The Hobbit: Goblin Caverns

Outstanding Virtual Cinematography in a Live Action Feature Motion Picture

Outstanding FX and Simulation Animation in a Live Action Feature Motion Picture

Outstanding Compositing in a Feature Motion Picture

 

The VES Awards will be held on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

  1. Hmm as much as I’m a Lord of the Rings fanboy, I’d have to give the nod to the visual effects in Life of Pi over The Hobbit..there, I’ve stabbed the proverbial sacred cow ;p

  2. Though I really loved the opening effects with the history of the dwarves and the Smaug attack….just that the CGI tiger in life of Pi was really impressive.

  3. The Hobbit: AUJ deserves to win in all categories for which it was nominated.
