Ever buy a Middle-earth map and spend months trying to find the perfect frame for it? Forget paper maps, why not wear a Middle-earth map? Australian based Black Milk Clothing has just released a new line of ‘The Lord of the Rings’ and ‘The Hobbit’ clothing, which happens to include The Hobbit Map Dress and Middle-earth Map Leggings. (My personal favorite!)
We’re not just talking a few items, folks. The line includes leggings, dresses, and bathing suits, as seen in their recent ‘Welcome to Middle-earth – Black Milk Clothing Style Youtube video. Yes, I said bathing suits. You can swim and show off your fandom pride all at the same time!
With such a collection, I had to ask Black Milk what influence was behind the clothing line. Marketing and Operations Manager, Cameron Parker, replied, “There are some huge fans right here at BMHQ and they’re so excited for the release! We chose ‘The Lord of the Rings’ and ‘The Hobbit’ because we love to tell stories with our gear, the more encompassing the better, and Tolkien’s works are arguably some of the most epic and influential stories ever written. How could we not? It’s an amazing world and we feel so lucky to have the opportunity to work with such iconic images.”
It was those iconic images that made me wonder how Black Milk went about choosing them. “It’s a huge process, choosing the images we want to use, then working out how to make them work as effectively as possible,” Cameron explained. “We have to be strict with what makes the cut and what doesn’t, because we know the fans have high expectations and we want to give them the absolute best gear we can. We have so many images to choose from, and there’s plenty more to come!”
If you’re like me and wondering how long you have until the collection is retired, never fear. Cameron reassured me, “We’re going to keep ‘The Lord of the Rings’ and ‘The Hobbit’ pieces around for quite a while, and we’ll restock sold out items as soon as possible. We want to make sure everyone has a chance to grab the gear they want!”
