Billy Boyd, who played Pippin in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, is to join The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy Road Show in Scotland.

Billy will be The Voice of the Book in the performances at Aberdeen, Dunfermline and Inverness according to the Banffshire Journal. The Voice of the Book is the narrator who reads out the Hitchhiker’s Guide’s entries.

The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy began as a radio show in which Peter Jones and later William Franklyn played The Voice. It was made into a film in 2005. Interestingly, two of The Hobbit cast featured in the film: Martin Freeman (Bilbo) played the lead character Arthur Dent and Stephen Fry (Master of Lake Town) was The Voice of the Book.

The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy Road Show will be in Aberdeen on Saturday, November 9, Dunfermline on November 7 and Inverness on November 10.

The Aberdeen show is at the Aberdeen Music hall and tickets can be booked online
