Tolkien’s Road is a short film that follows Professor J.R.R. Tolkien as he struggles to overcome the trauma of WWI and recapture his imagination. The filmmakers hope to hit the festival circuit with their film, so keep an eye out at your local film festivals. A double-bit battle ax used by dwarf Gimli in two installments of The Lord of the Rings film franchise was among of the items included in a two-day auction on April 11 and 12, in Beverly Hills. “This was gifted by Peter Jackson to John Rhys-Davies, who was Gimli in Lord of the Rings,” Julien’s Auctions President Darren Julien said in an interview in “Today” show early April. We don’t know how much the ax sold for, but it was expected to fetch $120,000-$140,000. (Evie Bowman and Alice Greenleaf)
