In March 2014, Harper Collins announced that a new edition of The Lord of the Rings was to be released in June 2014 to mark the 60th anniversary of the book’s publication. Now, Harper Collins has revealed the first image of the new edition.
The new edition includes artwork by famed Tolkien artist Alan Lee. Lee’s distinctive artwork formed an important part of the look of Peter Jackson’s award-winning film adaptation of The Lord of the Rings. According to the description on the Harper Collins website, the book features the “definitive” 50th anniversary text, and the book is enclosed in a special transparent slipcase.
The 60th anniversary edition will be released on June 19, 2014, and is available for pre-order on the Harper Collins website.
