LOTRO’s Update 14 Will Increase Level Cap and Lead Players into Gondor

LOTRO’s Update 14 is now live on the Bullroarer (beta) server, and preliminary release notes were posted on the official forums yesterday. Some of the highlights include:

  • Level cap of 100
  • New Regions – free to all VIPs, players will now be able to explore the following locations: the Paths of the Dead, Blackroot Vale, Lamedon, and the Havens of Belfalas (home to Dol Amroth)
  • Epic Story Volume IV – the epic line will continue and will be free to all players
  • The Essence System – Essences, currently earned as drops, can be used to upgrade an enhance new gear found throughout the world
  • Join the City Watch of Dol Amroth – after players reach level 100, they will receive a summons from Beriadur, head of the city guard of Dol Amroth. Players will be asked to aid the people of Dol Amroth; such tasks will range from threats in the Paths of the Dead, to corsair camps, fishing, a 3-man instance, and more.
  • Global chat channel – accessible via the /world or /wd commands, players can now chat .

Other items mentioned in the patch notes include changes to classes, mounted combat, Monster Play, Legendary Items, and more! One thing players will not see with Update 14, however, is the new Beorning class: “The Beorning is not part of Update 14. It will come later this year.”
