Richard Armitage and Andy Serkis had a bit of a reunion on July 14, 2014, when the two Hobbit stars appeared on BBC Breakfast to promote their latest projects. Both men talked about a variety of topics in their separate interview segments, including The Hobbit.

Richard Armitage’s interview started with a video clip of The Crucible by Arthur Miller. Armitage is performing the lead role of John Proctor in director Yaël Farber’s new production, currently running at the Old Vic Theatre. Armitage talks about The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies and working with Andy Serkis as Second Unit Director on The Hobbit films at about 4:10 in the interview. The interview includes a clip from The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.

Andy Serkis discussed performance capture, particularly in his latest film, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, now showing in the USA and UK (you can find your area’s release date here). At around 3:00 minutes in the interview, Serkis talks about how meeting Peter Jackson changed his career, and how he found Gollum’s voice.

Serkis also appeared on The One Show on July 14. During that interview, the actor improvised Gollum leaving a voice message for Caesar the ape. The very entertaining video is below.
