Congratulations to the Winner of our Limerick Contest!

Limerick Contest Marquee

Congratulations to the winner of our Feast Week/Tolkien Week Limerick Contest! We had 71 spectacular entries for this competition and it’s been quite difficult choosing the winner. Here is the one limerick that stood out to the staff here at Middle-earth News.

You would think, Bilbo mused, in the Shire
That surviving the dread dragon’s fire
Would command some respect,
But these auctions reflect
That my spoons’ reputation is higher.

Our grand prize winner is Emily Wert! Her limerick contained the correct number of syllables as well as just the right amount of humor.

Limerick Contest Emily Wert

Emily wins the Grand Prize courtesy of our friend Colin Patten (The Middle-earthTM Collection) and our friends at Weta Workshop and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt!

  • 1 Gloin Statue from Weta Workshop
  • 1 Hobbit journal, 2 buttons, and 1 laptop decal from Houghton Mifflin Harcourt
  • 1 Medium Bag End Model from The Middle-earthTM Collection

We would also like to give an honorable mention to our good friend, “Mike the Guide” for his entry. If you ever find yourself in New Zealand and would like to have an awesome Hobbit and LOTR tour experience, look him up! You can also read our own review of his tours right here.

Thank you all for taking part. We hope you had as much fun writing your limericks as we did reading them.

And a big thank you to our sponsors Colin Patten (The Middle-earthTM Collection)Weta Workshop, and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt! Without them, this contest would not have been possible.
