Documentary distributors Arte are presenting the documentary Looking for the Hobbit at Mipcom media event next week and will be hoping to sell the programme worldwide.

In the documentary John Howe, conceptual artist for The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, sets out to explore the legends that gave rise to Tolkien’s books and the places that inspired them.

There are five, 26 minute episodes: Tolkien’s Worlds; The Magical Forest of Broceliande: In the Footsteps of King Arthur; The Lost God of the Rhine; The Creatures of the North. The series comes in English, German and French and is planned to be available at the same time as the release of the film The Hobbit: the Battle of the Five Armies.

Here’s wishing Arte good luck with the sales as I’m sure we’d all love to see this. In the meantime, if you follow the link you can watch Arte’s film presenting Looking for the Hobbit.
