Musicians Cover LOTR Songs in an Attempt to Make Us Cry

If you’re participating in our 5 Week Middle-earth Movie Marathon, you know that this week is the week of tears. The Middle-earth movie that we’re watching this week is The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, and try as we might to remain stoic, any live-tweeting sessions we’re involved with end with a box of tissues.

With perfectly devastating timing, two of our favorite Tolkien-inspired musicians have released covers of songs from The Lord of the Rings films that make it difficult to retain any sort of composure.

Karliene Reynolds

Karliene has done a number of Middle-earth songs, which we highlighted in an earlier article. For her recently released cover of “Into The West,” she starts by reading a passage from the book about Sam waiting in the Grey Havens, watching the last ship fade into the west. Don’t think you’ll get any reprieve with this one!

Malukah

Malukah is famous on YouTube for her Skyrim and LOTR covers (check out her Misty Mountains), and last week, she teased us with a fun practice video of this song on her Facebook page. At least we got to have some laughter before the tears!
