For those of us celebrating Easter, there were many gems to be found this weekend. One, rather unexpected, gem I stumbled upon earlier on Youtube is a documentary on Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings from 2003, named Middle-Earth’s Secrets: Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings.
Besides known Tolkien experts such as Humphrey Carpenter or Patrick Curry, the documentary also features the Brothers Hildebrandt, and J.R.R. Tolkien’s children John and Pricilla Tolkien. In the documentary, interviews give insight into Tolkien’s life, work, and Middle-earth’s legendarium while alternated by a narration re-telling LOTR. The narrator is no other than Graham McTavish, also known as Dwalin in The Hobbit trilogy!
