Our very own Oloriel Berry is celebrating a birthday today! Oloriel is our News Editor and Middle-earth News would not be the same without her. We love her wit, her kindness and her ability to make us laugh so effortlessly.
To help with the celebration of Oloriel’s birth, the members of the News team answered a series of Tolkien-themed questions. Here is what we had to say about Oloriel!
Which Tolkien character does Oloriel most remind you of?
- Mh not sure, probably Merry. She makes good jokes but she’s also wise enough to not touch random things in Moria attracting some orcs. (Alice)
- Eowyn, cause she kicks ass. (Arwen)
- Galadriel. (Maria)
- She reminds me a lot of Gandalf. She’s very wise but will tell you what’s what if you need it. Also she’ll always be there for you if you need a friend and probably even an Eagle or two. (Myla)
- Merry. I see Merry as clever, quick-thinking, and loyal. There is no bigger heart in Middle-earth than Merry, nor at Middle-earth news than Oloriel. (Valdis)

What would be the perfect birthday gift for Oloriel?
- A pretty necklace from Thorin’s treasure. (Alice)
- All the Weta ‘The Hobbit’ knitting kits. (Arwen)
- I can see Oloriel sitting in Elrond’s library having all kinds of fascinating conversations with Elrond that quickly turn into a sass contest (with Oloriel wining). (Maria)
- I imagine her perfect gift would be to spend an entire day with Faramir. For reasons. (Myla)
- A month vacation in Rivendell with full access to Elrond’s library, and a healthy supply of elf yarn for knitting. (Valdis)

- Ian McKellen? (Alice)

- I’m not sure if she has one. (Maria)
- I’m not entirely sure, but I’ll go with Cate Blanchett, I feel like they’d get along very well. (Myla)

- Sword, she would be a perfect elf guardian in LOTRO 😀 (Alice)

- I see her wielding a staff. I can totally see her casting spells and defeating at orcs and Balrogs. She can take them, I’m sure of it. Basically I just think she would make an awesome wizard. (Myla)
- I see Oloriel with a bow, and maybe swords like Thranduil’s for closer combat. Oloriel would have classy weapons. (Valdis)
