New York Comic Con begins in less than a week! If you’re attending and wondering what there is do to for Tolkien fans, here’s what’s going down:

Weta Workshop is returning this year and along with their awesome-as-always merchandise, Daniel Falconer and Warren Dion-Smith will be attending. Daniel is the author of many Hobbit tie-in books including The Hobbit Chronicles series and Smaug: Unleashing the Dragon. He’s also worked on The Lord of the Rings films and other films such as King Kong and Avatar. Warren will be doing live transformations during the convention, meaning you have the chance to transform into a creature straight out of Middle-earth! I’m pretty sure that’s something we’ve all dreamed about. There’s also a chance new products will be previewed at NYCC, so make sure you stop by Weta’s booth to get your sneak peek! You can find them at Booth 622. And if you’re not attending NYCC, don’t worry, you’ll still be able to get in the NYCC experience, just make sure you’re a Periscope user.

TheOneRing.net will be at NYCC as always! You can find them at Booth 3040 selling all types of goodies including t-shirts, lanyards, and more. While they won’t be hosting a panel this year, there will be a forum/discussion group on Friday October 9 from 4-5 pm. “We’ll be chatting and reminiscing about the seventeen years which have flown by, since Peter Jackson got going on pre-production for his Lord of the Rings trilogy and TORn was founded. Come and share your memories of this unexpected journey! Venue TBA – we’ll let you know asap, and hope you can join us! (We very well may also include some gossip on just what might be in the Extended Edition of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies…)”

Just like last year, tORn’s Ringers Take Manhattan party will be co-hosted by Weta, so buy your tickets now before they all sell out! Ticket includes your first drink, a yummy finger food buffet, a goody bag and two tickets for their raffle. Online ticket sales close at 11 am on Oct 8, but you’ll still be able to purchase one in-person at their booth or at the door at the party for $5 more if any are still available.

David Wenzel, artist of The Hobbit graphic novel, will have a table set up again in Artist Alley, you can find him at T4 to say hi and buy a print of his amazing artwork!

John Rhys-Davies (Gimli and the voice of Treebeard) will be attending NYCC on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. He’ll be doing photo ops on Friday October 9 at 2:45 pm and Saturday October 10 at 2:00 pm. Click here for more information. John will also be available for autographing on Fri/Sat/Sun at various times.

John Noble (Denethor) will be at the CBS TV Studios Block Featuring Elementary and Limitless panel on Friday, Oct 9.
