Feast Week, Day 6: The Feast of Tom Bombadil (Night 2)

Having taken both Tom Bombadil feast nights, I wanted to switch up the second meal with something that incorporated a lot of the ingredients while keeping it in a different vain from the previous meal.

Feast of Tom Bombadil, Night 2

For Feast of Tom Bombadil, Night 2, I chose to go with a homemade braided berry and cheese Danish. I will not lie, the task was a bit daunting, as I had never attempted to made Danish pastry dough before. However, it had most of the ingredients for the feast: berries, cheese, butter, and bread. After a little sleuthing on the internet, I came across a recipe I felt willing to take on. The dough itself, took a while to make, as you have to let it rise overnight. However, once you have the dough ready, the actual process of filling and braiding the dough, is quite simple.

The site I found the recipe does an incredible job at detailing instructions with step by step photos. For directions, CLICK HERE. For ingredients, see the list below:

  • 1 (8oz) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1/4 cup jam (I used the same four berry jam I enjoyed in the previous evening’s meal)

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1-2 Tablespoons milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla (or 1 teaspoon lemon juice and 1 teaspoon lemon zest)

Like I said, the dough may have taken some time to make, but my taste buds said it was totally worth it. I would love to hear if you tried this recipe, or if you put together a recipe of your own. Share in the comments below. Happy Feasting, Middle-earthlings!
