There are only five hours left before bidding closes on the auction for a chance to meet Peter Jackson on the set of “The Hobbit.”
According to the Trade Me website, the winner of the auction will win a “’Top Secret’ extraordinary chance for two people to visit the closed set of the filming of The Hobbit in Wellington. It includes lunch with the cast and crew and a meeting with Sir Peter Jackson. Because of the confidential nature of the filming, this is a rare once in a lifetime opportunity.” The cost of airfare and accommodations will not be included in the prize and the visit must take place between February 6 and June 30 of next year.
Another related auction is for the chance to have a cast made of your face by the wizards at Richard Taylor’s Weta Workshop. The Trade Me website describes the prize: “The lucky person will join a select group of celebrities that have been lucky enough to have Weta preserve their features forever, including members of the cast from Lord of the Rings.” As with the Peter Jackson prize, the cost of airfare and accommodations will not be included in the prize package.
The auctions for both prizes close on January 9, 2012 at 8:30PM (keep in mind that there is a significant time difference between New Zealand and most other parts of the world). The bidding for the meet-and-greet with Peter Jackson has already surpassed $8200, but there is still a chance to bid on the prize!
