As the charity auction to raise money for The Court Theatre in Christchurch enters it’s final day the bids are hotting up.
The bidding stands at over $500 NZ for a Bronwyn Lange print signed by Barry Humphries (The Great Goblin in The Hobbit), whilst another Lange print signed by many of The Hobbit cast and an Eduardo Munoz Bachs print signed by Stephen Fry battle it out at around $600 NZ. The cast print has been signed by Martin Freeman – Bilbo, Stephen Fry – Master of Lake-town, James Nesbitt – Bofur , Aidan Turner – Kili, Dean O’Gorman – Fili, Mark Hadlow – Dori, Adam Brown – Ori, Graham McTavish – Dwalin, Jed Brophy – Nori, Stephen Hunter – Bombur, Peter Hambleton – Gloin, John Callen – Oin , William Kircher – Bifur and Ryan Gage – Alfrid.
And there’s more! Other people involved in The Hobbit including Peter Jackson, Elijah Wood, Orlando Bloom, Ian McKellen and Richard Taylor have also signed prints.
Other celebrities offering items for the auction include Beyonce and the cast of Downton Abbey.
The Court Theatre is raising money to replace essential items lost in the earthquake of 2011.
Its chief executive Philip Aldridge said, ”We continue to get phone calls, emails and messages asking ‘how can I help? We hope this auction will help The Court’s continued recovery alongside the city.”
The items can be viewed on the Trade Me website. Let’s hope they raise lots of money for the theatre.
