Clue to Extra Hobbit Filming

A set used in the making of The Hobbit films has been granted permission to remain until December 2013.

The set is in the Maupuia bush and was used in earlier filming for the village of Dale.

According to Stuff.co.NZ  the set was due to be removed in August but has been given permission by Wellington City Council to remain until December 2013, so extra filming for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug can take place.

The site is in the area of Mount Crawford and is on private land, although there are walking tracks in the area that may be open to the public at the landowner’s discretion.

The first film, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, will be in cinemas from 14 December 2012, with The Desolation of Smaug and There and Back Again following on 13 December 2013 and 18 July 2014 respectively.
