Haiku Contest Winner Will Win Map Of The Shire! Enter Now!

Our friends over at The Examiner are celebrating the premiere of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey with a contest!

The prize: Weta Workshop‘s magnificently detailed Map of the Shire, measuring in at 21.3″ x 29.1″ (H x W x D).

How to enter: Write a haiku inspired by Tolkien or The Hobbit and email it to this address. To be eligible, you must include your name and the email address where you’d prefer to be contacted.

Remember, this form of Japanese verse has 17 syllables that are divided into 3 lines of 5, 7, and 5 syllables.

Example:
The hooded stranger
Defender of all free folk
Crowned King of pure light

Haiku will be considered according to factors such as creativity, evocative imagery, subject matter, and so on. The best (yes, it’s a highly subjective term) haiku will be chosen on November 28, 2012, when The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey premiere occurs in Wellington, New Zealand! The winner will be notified and asked for their mailing address at that time.

Due date: Entries will be accepted until midnight MST, November 26.
