Martin Freeman’s film The World’s End is to get a premiere in New Zealand.
Martin (who plays Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit trilogy) stars alongside Simon Pegg (Star Trek) and Nick Frost in this new film.
The Dominion Post says that yesterday, the director Edgar Wright tweeted,
‘‘Okay NZ, you get your good news now. The World’s End opens July 18th in New Zealand. And we are coming over too,’’
Simon Pegg and Nick Frost who, along with Wright, were behind cult hits Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead, have connections with New Zealand, having appeared as Thompson and Thomson in The Adventures of Tintin.
Last month we learned that the UK release date for The World’s End had been brought forward to 19th July, which means the screening in New Zealand is unlikely to be the world premiere. But it gives Martin Freeman, who will be in Wellington filming The Hobbit, a chance to attend and give a big thank you to New Zealand.
The World’s End is described on IMDB as,
‘‘Five friends who reunite in an attempt to top their epic pub crawl from 20 years earlier unwittingly become humankind’s only hope for survival’’.
