The last block of filming on The Hobbit started on May 20th. For many days prior, there was only speculation about when the filming would start, but Peter Jackson informed his fans with a message on his Facebook page:
Back on set for our last Hobbit pick ups. Our last ever Tolkien pick ups, in fact. It’s going to be an intense few weeks, but we’re looking forward to shooting some powerful scenes with our great cast. Our next blog is coming soon!
But also the Hobbit cast is sharing some news to the fans all around the world in real time and it seems that the major source is Twitter.
Graham McTavish tweeted:
First day back. Sore from all the hugging! So good to see everyone, and be part of such a great family. It’s like we never left…..

and also Jed Brophy informed his fans that the filming session has started:

Stephen Hunter said:

Finally we can read a nice message from William Kircher on his Facebook page:
Well… started back into filming pick-ups on The Hobbit last week. Great fun… just like we never stopped! It is very special getting back with all the team… in fact it is like we never stopped filming! Last week we worked with the stunt team. My stunt double Scottie has choreographed some great fight beats for Bifur so we worked on shaping these up… also did a lot of weapons training, rolling etc. I was a bit sore for the next couple of days… but well worth it! In my trailer right now waiting to get called to set. Watch out… here comes the Biff! Cheers
Well, it seems that all the cast is excited to be back on The Hobbit set. We just have to wait the next video blog from Peter Jackson!
