Several months ago, gamers began noticing that Warner Bros. had registered a new domain, Shadow of Mordor; many members of the gaming community began to speculate on the nature of this new game.
Game Informer has just confirmed that Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor – developed by Monolith Productions (the folks behind Guardians of Middle-earth) and produced by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment – is currently in development and will be released on the following platforms: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.

According to Warner Bros.’ press release, “gamers take on the role of Talion, a valiant ranger whose family is slain in front of him the night Sauron and his army return to Mordor, moments before his own life is taken. Resurrected by a Spirit of vengeance and empowered with Wraith abilities, Talion ventures into Mordor and vows to destroy those who have wronged him. Through the course of his personal vendetta, Talion uncovers the truth of the Spirit that compels him, learns the origins of the Rings of Power and ultimately confronts his true nemesis.”
Following in the style of other popular games, like Skyrim and SWTOR, each player can personalise their story via the choices they make in-game, a feature that I personally love.
The game also offers a Nemesis System, which allows undefeated enemies to improve their skill throughout the game, simultaneous to Thalion’s own journey.
