The Island Bay Marine Education Centre has been chosen as the beneficiary of the The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug, opening at the New Zealand Charity Gala at the Embassy Theatre on December 9 in Wellington.
“We are proud to support The Marine Education Centre, they give so much to this city, we are very happy to be able to give something back,” says Peter Jackson.
A number of actors from the film will be present at the event, including Jed Brophy and Stephen Hunter. Refreshments and canapés will be available. The ticket charge is $100 NZD per person.
“We are delighted to be involved with this event and the money raised will help us to reach more people of all ages to inspire them to want to learn about our oceans,” noted Judy Hutt of The Island Bay Marine Education Centre. “We think education is the key to caring for our environment and the younger you start learning the better.”
