I was thrilled to have the opportunity to chat with Dan Hennah while visiting Los Angeles for The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug world premiere. He’s not only worked on The Hobbit films, but The Lord of the Rings trilogy as well, making him a legend in my mind.
Even after the interview was finished, Dan and I stood around Beorn’s house within The Book of New Zealand discussing the detail put into the design sets around us. He was a pleasure to talk with and it was a joy to see how excited Dan was to point out the small details he and his crew added to the sets.
