In September, Middle-earth News launched its “Register the Ring” campaign with #RegisterFOTR. Tolkien fans turned out on Twitter, Facebook, and blogs to promote the cause to add The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring to the 2013 National Film Registry.
Every year since 1989, twenty-five films have been added to the Registry that are deemed “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.” These films are earmarked for preservation by the Library of Congress.
The 2013 National Film Registry films have just been announced and, sadly, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring didn’t make the list.
You know what this means, right? In 2014, Middle-earth News will push even harder for the inclusion of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring on the National Film Registry.
And with your help, we know we can do it!
Keep an eye on Middle-earth News for our kickoff of the next installment of “Register the Ring” when we reintroduce #RegisterFOTR!
