Bafta nominations for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug

Congratulations to The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug for receiving two nominations in the EE British Academy Film Awards announced today! The nominations are for special visual effects and make up and hair. Joe Letteri, Eric Saindon, David Clayton, Eric Reynolds are nominated for special visual effects and  Peter Swords King, Richard Taylor, Rick Findlater for make up and hair.

Fellow nominees in special visual effects are:

Gravity, Tim Webber, Chris Lawrence, David Shirk, Neil Corbould, Nikki Penny
Iron Man 3, Bryan Grill, Christopher Townsend, Guy Williams, Dan Sudick
Pacific Rim, Hal Hickel, John Knoll, Lindy De Quattro, Nigel Sumner
Star Trek Into Darkness, Ben Grossmann, Burt Dalton, Patrick Tubach, Roger Guyett

and in make up and hair are;

American Hustle, Evelyne Noraz, Lori Mccoy-Bell
Behind The Candelabra, Kate Biscoe, Marie Larkin
The Butler, Debra Denson, Beverly Jo Pryor, Candace Neal
The Great Gatsby, Maurizio Silvi, Kerry Warn

Gravity received the highest number of nominations with eleven.

The nominations were announced by actor Luke Evans who plays Bard the Bowman in The Hobbit and actress Helen McCrory who recently appeared in the UK television series Peaky Blinders.
