This Tuesday at 7 p.m., the Wilton Public & Greg Free Library in Wilton, NH will be offering a presentation on Tolkien, titled “J.R.R. Tolkien and the Uses of Fantasy.” The program is free and open to the public.
Clia M. Goodwin, Ph.D., a New Hampshire Humanities Council (NHHC) scholar, will be discussing Tolkien’s background and sources, the role of The Hobbit in the creation of Middle-earth, and the continuing popularity of Tolkien and fantasy. Goodwin has a Ph.D. in comparative medieval literature with a concentration in Old English, Old French, and Old Norse literatures and languages.
