Awards season has officially kicked off and it seems The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug has been receiving nominations left and right! Most recently, set designer Dan Hennah received a nomination from the Art Directors Guild for “Excellence in Production Design” within the fantasy film category. Other films nominated in this category include Elysium, Gravity, Oblivion, and Star Trek Into Darkness.
Here you can see Dan Hennah speaking with Middle-earth News Director, Arwen Kester, at The Book of New Zealand event held last month in Los Angeles.
Everyone here at Middle-earth News wishes Dan the best of luck with his nomination!

Amanda has always been a self-proclaimed nerd. It only seemed a natural progression for her to become so deeply entrenched in the vast world of Middle-earth. She quickly found herself being swept away by the intense battles, deep moral messages, and the handsome dwarf, Kili.
In addition to staying on top of all the latest Middle-earth news and events, Amanda is a full-time university student. She is also a passionate animal-lover with pets such as a giant black cat named Ozzy and a guinea pig named Gimli. The rest of her free time is spent traveling, writing, watching TV and movies, and attending nerdy conventions.
