Opened in 2011 by local artists Mark Anderson and David Hicks, the tourist attraction in Weymouth held an annual themed sand show. In the past, themes such as Science Fiction or the Olympics attracted visitors and sand artists alike. For 2014, Sandworld announced a literary themed show called “Literary Sand”.
According to Mark Anderson, organiser and local sand sculptor, books and authors were chosen because “it is something that appeals across generations”. The list of authors includes, J.R.R. Tolkien, Roald Dahl, Ian Fleming, and Thomas Hardy.
Open from April 4th until November 2nd, there is plenty of time this year to explore the beautiful sand sculpturs.
