The beginning chapter of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Silmarillion is entitled “Ainulindalë, The Music of the Ainur.” It starts out with Eru, also know as Ilúvatar, creator and father of the Ainur. Who are the Ainur? They are “the Holy Ones, that were the offspring of his thought, and they were with him before aught else was made.” Cartoonist and illustrator Evan Palmer, has created a comic based off “Ainulindalë”, the chapter surrounding the very early stages of Tolkien’s world. You can read the comic on his Tumblr, or on his website.
It’s such a visually stunning comic that all fans should see. The colors are beautifully vibrant, the scenery is gorgeous… I don’t know about you but this artwork makes me want to whip out a copy of The Silmarillion and just start reading.
