The Hunter class is (in our opinion) one of the most enjoyable classes available in LOTRO. From the combination of ranged and close-combat attacks to the many travel skills, the class has something to offer almost anyone. This Westfold Wednesday, we’re gushing about our Hunters and why we love them so much!
ALICE
The Hunter is my favourite class so far. I started playing LOTRO with a Hunter, because they told me it was the easiest class, perfect for beginners. I tried all the other classes, but none gave me the same satisfaction during a fight. I love being able to strike my enemies from a certain distance, and I have to admit that I’m still afraid of melee combats.
My favourite skills (when I have enough focus) are Penetrating Shot and Barrage, but also the Cry of the Hunter, it’s pretty funny seeing my little Hobbit yelling like a little lion!
BRITTA
When I first started playing LOTRO, I was a fan of the close-combat melee class, so my first character was a Champion. But when it came time to create my first alt, I thought I would try a ranged class. I immediately fell in love with my Hunter, Bregolad, and the high amount of damage he deals. I love being able to take out an enemy before they even see me; and being able to run and shoot allows much more freedom when fighting.
When asked by new players to suggest a class, I almost always recommend Hunter first. It is a versatile class which deals ranged and melee damage, allowing new players to get a feel for which play style they prefer.
Some of my favourite Hunter skills are Bard’s Arrow and Heart-seeker; but even more important to me are the many travel skills Hunters have. Many quests, deeds, and festival events will take you all over Middle-earth, and those fast travel skills come in handy!
MARIA
The first char I ever created was my main Lilloa, a hunter. I had no particular reason to pick the hunter class, it was a random decision. A random decision I’m happy about. Soon enough I began to enjoy the perks of being a hunter. Oh boy do I love using the bow. Only after I began creating characters with other classes I began to appreciate my hunters even more. While my guardian is starting to grow on me, I cannot but miss the travelling perks of hunters. In other words, even in LOTRO I’m a rather lazy person. Want to kill a baddie? Why bother running towards it when you can kill the baddie before he reaches you. Want to travel somewhere? One click and you’re there. But in all seriousness, I truly love my hunters.
Do you have a Hunter? We’d love to hear about him or her in the comments below!
