MinasTirithCake_by_TheCakeGeek

Check out this awesome Minas Tirith cake from The Cake Geek! This wedding cake turned out to be around 180 servings (so you may need more for your average hobbit party). They have pictures on their Facebook page detailing the whole process. (spotted by Middle-earth News reporter Lily)

James at A Tolkienist Perspective is kicking off a BIG project. Working with other like-minded individuals, he would like to construct the rest of Tolkien’s unfinished poem, The Fall of Arthur, based on the author’s own notes. The completed second half of the collaborative verses will be made available online for readers who wish to explore a possible scenario where the whole poem is complete. Anyone wanting to contribute to this project in anyway, can contact James by commenting this blog post or sending an email to tolkienistperspective@gmail.com. (written by Middle-earth News contributor Jim)

Emil Johansson, affectionately known around here as Lotrproject, has created this infographic demonstrating the gold in circulation in Middle-earth during the Third Age. During which years, do you suppose, was Smaug in dominion under The Lonely Mountain? I’ll give you one guess. (spotted by Middle-earth News reporter Lily)

In a recent YouGov poll of 2,652 adults, The Hobbit was listed as #4 on list of the Favorite Children’s Books of the Last 150 Years. The three books that were listed ahead of Tolkien’s classic were Winnie The Pooh, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, and The Very Hungry Caterpillar. If you want to weigh in, you can vote for your favorite from the top ten list in this Telegraph poll. (spotted by Middle-earth News reporter Lily)

This video from The Tolkien Society provides you a glimpse of their activities throughout the year. Even though it’s based in the UK, you don’t have to live there to join! The Society has hundreds of members in dozens of countries around the world who hold local events in their areas and who all receive the Society’s journals Amon Hen and Mallorn. What binds all members together is a shared passion for the works of J.R.R. Tolkien. (spotted by Middle-earth News contributor Myla)
