Premier League football clubs Newcastle United (Magpies) and West Ham United (Hammers) enjoyed separate trips to Weta Workshop and Park Road Post Production Studios during their current tour of New Zealand.
At Weta Workshop the teams had a chance to admire costumes from The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings and to get to grips with swords and axes. Outside they posed with the model of the giant trolls reports TTWAsia. At Park Road Post Production Studios they met the two-time Oscar winning sound mixer Michael Hedges who talked to them about producing the sound for The Hobbit and LOTR. He even let them hold his Oscar!
West Ham captain Kevin Nolan said, ‘I think it’s probably been one of the best parts of the tour, as it was really interesting to find out what goes on with making all the films.
‘You don’t realise how much work goes into making a film and I was really impressed.
‘I couldn’t wait to get hold of an Oscar and as soon as I saw it I grabbed it and I didn’t want to put it down!’ reports whufc.
Newcastle United and West Ham are in New Zealand for the Football United Tour 2014 which also features Wellington Phoenix and Sydney FC.
