LOTRO’s Summer Festival is here! Last week we talked about some of our favourite summer styles; today we’re talking about the festival itself!
ALICE
This is my very first Summer Festival and I’m pretty satisfied by it, it’s my favourite so far, after the Yuletide one (however I still have to discover the Fall Festival).
I love the quests of this Festival because you don’t have to compete with the other players, like during the Anniversary and the Spring Festival, also they are easy and relaxing. My favourite are the races at the Tastes of Hobbiton and Thorin’s Hall, but I also enjoy fishing at Bywater, because the quest lasts ten minutes (instead of twenty) and the scenery is stunning!
Corning the bartered items, I like the cosmetics, I created two new outfits for my Hobbit (you can see them in the following screenshots), but I don’t like the steeds. However I bartered the Summerdays Steed, because it matches with the tunic. During this festival my Hobbit has also learned several dance emotes and now she likes to perform them while she waits for the races.
BRITTA
I’ve been growing increasingly bored with the festivals lately. Having played LOTRO for over five years now, I’ve already acquired the cosmetics, housing decorations, and mounts that I wanted. The newer rewards (of which there are few) are never worth the time and effort to obtain. I would love to see LOTRO go back to making unique festival mounts, rather than the aptly-nicknamed “tablecloth” steeds.
This year, I grabbed a few housing decorations for our kinhouse, but after that, I went back to questing in Mirkwood and have been ignoring the remainder of the festival.

Once again, this year was the first time I’ve participated in the Summer Festival. In contrast to the previous festivals, I’ve done some research in order to know what expect. One good source is Casually Strolling Through MMO’s. So for the first time, I was not running around confused and helpless during the first day of the festival.
I have to admit, the Summer Festival is not my favourite. Moreover, for the first time I wasn’t excited about the cosmetic outfits. So I ended up saving tokens only for the housing decorations. So far I’ve spend my time working on Lilloa’s Inn League reputation (hopefully I’ll reach Ally with the Inn League before the end of the Festival) and her dancing skills.
MYLA
I’ve only participated the the Summer Festival once before, and that was last year. I remember thinking: “Fishing…really??” so I soon gave up because it didn’t sound appealing to me at all. But this time around I figured I’d give it a shot, after all, I had my eyes on the “Sunshine” title! Fishing isn’t THAT bad, but having to stand around for 20 minutes while I catch what felt like 100 weeds and one fish felt tedious. Gotta catch all those fish though for the tokens. (GOTTA CATCH ‘EM ALL.)
All of the quests for this festival were easy enough though which I liked. The missing items quests were a breeze to complete since it was easy to remember all the locations. And the races with the hobbits and dwarves were new to me because I didn’t take part last year. Most of the time the ones I picked to win the race would lose, but I did manage to halfway complete the deed for the “Lucky Duck” title!
I wasn’t too impressed with the new cosmetics or steed… actually the same goes for the other two steeds. Didn’t matter though in the end, my guardian just HAD to have all three, and she worked her hobbit butt off to do it. (Meaning she stood around and looked at pretty scenery while she fished.) The only cosmetic items I got were the long sleeved summer dress and the tunic which I really love, but the items I was most in love with were all of the housing items. Gave my home in the Shire a little makeover with new wallpaper, bed and yard decorations. There are still a few days left of the festival but I think I’ve had enough for the year.
We’d love to hear your thoughts on this year’s Summer Festival. Leave us a comment below!
