It’s confirmed: Richard Armitage is a complete dork. That is, from our perspective, a good thing, and we love him all the more for it. The confirmation of dork status came in the form of the playful tweets Richard has sent since he made his recent debut on Twitter. The self-described “Moody Actor, Anti-Socialite” @RCArmitage is showing a decidedly silly side in his early Twitter tenure, gaining nearly 25,000 followers into the bargain.
A Huffington Post article that appeared the same day as Richard’s first tweet reported that the actor joined Twitter because he wanted “to do more to support his charitable endeavors and to also interact with his fans who have been so supportive.” He has hit both of those marks in the bullseye during his first few days on Twitter.
From the start, Richard’s tweets sent the adorable dorkiness meter off the scale. Richard sent his first tweet to the Twitter-verse on his birthday, just a few days ago on August 22, 2014.
That tweet was followed by several equally endearing messages, including this request for a birthday song from his fans:
Followers shared Richard’s pain when he took on the ALSA Ice Bucket Challenge,

and when he had to nurse his sore throat through two-show Saturday.
On Sunday, Richard wanted to talk beards, asking fans for help with an upcoming photo shoot for The Hobbit. He asked fans for ideas (and photos) for either a disguise or enhancements for the “Proctarian1692SalemiteFacialThatch” (referring to the beard he is sporting for his role as John Proctor in The Crucible at the Old Vic Theatre). Richard promised to use the best fan submission in the actual photo shoot, and offered his own idea, too.
Richard has made quite an auspicious entry into the Twitter-verse. We hope that he continues to have this much fun tweeting with his fans and showing his silly, dorky side. You can follow Richard on Twitter at @RCArmitage.
