Congratulations! The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings actors who donated to the Annos Africa Charity Auction raised £7,792.
The Anno’s Africa Charity Auction was held to raise funds for art education for children in slums and AIDS orphans in Nairobi. The auction, held on eBay, wasn’t without it’s problems with the links to the items for sale often going down. But it all worked out alright in the end.
Benedict Cumberbatch, Ian Holm, Stephen Fry and Aidan Turner all donated items. Benedict’s suit raised a massive £7100, Ian Holm’s coat £200, Stephen Fry’s tie £112 and Aidan Turner’s first edition copy of Ross Poldark signed by Aidan and Robin Ellis raised £380!
Here’s how some other donations did: a Being Human script and werewolf illustration donated by Toby Whithouse raised £180, a Broadchurch script signed by David Tennant raised £640 and a Daniel Craig shirt from Skyfall raised £980. Jane Birkin’s signed Birkin Bag made £19,900!
Congratulations to Annos Africa and to all those lucky bidders who were successful!
