Kiwi actor Dean O’Gorman, know for his role as Fili the Dwarf in Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit trilogy, is going to play Kirk Douglas in a new biopic movie, called Trumbo.
O’Gorman will star alongside other big names, like Bryan Cranston, who will play Dalton Trumbo, the screenwriter who worked with Kirk Douglas and was blacklisted during Hollywood’s heyday for ties to the Communist Party. According to Hollywood Reporter, David James Elliott will play John Wayne, Michael Stuhlbarg the actor Edward G. Robinson, Diane Lane as Trumbo’s wife and Helen Mirren as gossip columnist Hedda Hopper.
The movie is produced by Michael London and his Groundswell Productions in New Orleans, and it will be distributed by Bleecker Street, a new indie distribution company launched by former Focus Features co-CEO Andrew Karpen.
