For those of you attending New York Comic Con next week, that’s right I said next week, there will be some Tolkien-themed panels and exhibitors you definitely don’t want to miss. Unfortunately there are not a lot of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit guests booked for this convention, but you will be able to get an autograph from Éomer and/or Azog (I mean Karl Urban and Manu Bennett).
While there is not an official panel for The Hobbit, there are still panels you’ll want to check out. On Thursday October 9 from 4:00-4:45 p.m., Howard Shore and Doug Adams will be part of a panel called “Lord of the Rings: The Music of Middle-earth”; you can read more about it here. I mean, an entire panel about the music from LOTR and The Hobbit? Yes please! Then on October 11 you can attend Weta Workshop’s panel, “Creating Conceptual Art for Film” at 11 a.m. Artists Paul Tobin and Nick Keller will share their experiences working on films such as The Hobbit, Avatar, and The Chronicles of Narnia. Later in the day, TheOneRing.net will host a panel called “The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies – An Unofficial Look!” at 9 p.m.
As for exhibitors, Weta Workshop will be there at booth #722, so gather up your pennies! No doubt they will be selling some amazing items. TORn will also be exhibiting (you can find them at booth #3040); stop by to purchase some cool swag, talk Tolkien and you can also buy a ticket to their Ringers Take Manhattan party if they are still available. And if you go to Artist Ally, make sure to visit David Wenzel (booth #C6), the artist of The Hobbit graphic novel! You can read our interview with him here. He will also be singing copies of The Hobbit at the Ballantine Books booth on Sunday.
I will be attending NYCC and I hope to see you there!
