There’s a new revised and expanded edition of The Adventures of Tom Bombadil out, and in addition to Tolkien’s wonderful writing, it also comes with beautiful illustrations by Pauline Baynes.
This book is a must-have for those interested in the lore of hobbits along with that mysterious and amusing character, Old Tom himself. The verses in which Bombadil appears in is said to have been written by hobbits and preserved in the Red Book of Westmarch which also contain stories about Bilbo, Frodo, and their friends.
The Adventures of Tom Bombadil is filled with poems, legends, and tales surrounding the Shire near the end of the Third Age. This new edition comes with earlier versions of some of the Professor’s poems, part of a prose story with Bombadil, and notes by Tolkien scholars Christina Scull and Wayne G. Hammond. Sadly, it is currently not available to purchase directly from the US Amazon.
