Royal UK Premiere for The Hobbit

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is to get a Royal UK premiere in London on 12th December.

The film has been chosen for this year’s 65th Royal Film Performance reports BBC News. The Royal Film Performance raises money for the Cinema and Television Benevolent Fund (CTBF) which provides help for industry employees and their families who suffer hardship.

The president of the CTBF, Anne Bennett, said,

“We are thrilled to be able to host the UK premiere of this highly anticipated first instalment of The Hobbit trilogy.”

She added that the fund was “thankful” to Peter Jackson and the companies behind the film for “providing this opportunity” and for the “unswerving support the Royal Family gives to our charity”.

Josh Berger, president and managing director, Warner Bros U.K., Ireland & Spain commented,

“It’s fitting that this film, with a significant number of British cast and crew, will help support the great work the CTBF does for those most in need in the U.K.’s film and television community.”

Following the Royal premiere The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey will go on general release in the UK on 14 December.
