Own A Copy Of ‘Tree And Leaf’ That Was A Gift From Tolkien

A facsimile signed copy of the first run, of the first print, of the first edition of  Tree and Leaf  by JRR Tolkien is to be auctioned for charity at the Burren Tolkien Society Festival.

The global auction will be on Thursday 16 May but bidders have to register beforehand at http://www.burrentolkiensociety.ie  and make a  50 Euro donation to the Burren Tolkien Society.

 

Burren, in County Clare, Ireland, may well have been the inspiration for the landscape of Mordor in The Lord of the Rings and for Gollum’s cave, from an area called  Poll na gColm (the hole of Gollum).

The Burren Tolkien Society Festival celebrates Tolkien’s works with a mixture lectures, writing workshops, debates, music, film screenings, guided walks and tours of the Burren area. Amongst the events is a talk by  Mark Maher, model maker for The Hobbit:An Unexpected Journey   A full programme can be found here.

The festival runs from 9th -16th May, 2013.
