Bilbo Baggins will be riding on the North Yorkshire Railway this summer, as part of the railway’s Story Train programme and he will not be travelling alone. Gandalf the Grey, beautiful elf princess Arwen and a dwarf warrior will be keeping him company on the journey.
The Hobbit Story Train will run from Pickering to Grosmont station, where passengers will hunt for a hidden clue. On the return journey, travellers will disembark at Goathland for fun and games at the Goathland Hotel, and then again at Levisham, where they will hear tales from the books of JRR Tolkien, reports the Dalesman.
Danielle Ramsey, marketing manager for the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, says,
“Our beautiful North Yorkshire countryside easily stands up to the New Zealand landscapes that provide the backdrop for Middle -earth, so what better place is there to hear the stories of adventure and peril? This is a day out that will appeal to the whole family, with light-hearted fun and games and friendly banter between the travellers as you join the hobbit and his friends for this entertaining adventure!”
The Hobbit Story Train will run on Friday 23 August, 2013. Details are available at www.nymr.co.uk.
